investing £400,000 in new trucks to cope with expansion which its boss suspects is fuelled by the Working Time Directive.
MD Murray Prentice says the Directive, introduced nearly a year ago. has probably forced a rethink of distribution operations in Scotland because of its distance from the main population centres of the UK.
"The doomsday scenario that was predicted with the Directive made people ask if they should set up new depots or form strategic alliances," he says. It has helped people realise that there are other ways of doing things. J13T delivers to and from the Orkney and Shetland Islands as well as throughout the Grampian and Highland regions.
It is a shareholder member of the Palletforce distribution network.
The £400,000 is being spent on five 44-tonne Scanias and a 26tonne rigid which will join JBT's 50-strong fleet.
