ou know you're getting on a bit when the bus executives start looking like 14-year-olds. Don't panic — David Fowles is 14 — but is now the holder of a CPC in bus and coach operations.
He is the son of Bev Fowles, managing director of United Welsh Coaches and Brewers of Maesteg. "He announced his plan to take the exam one morning over breakfast," says Bev, "and asked if I could arrange a course for him."
David took his CPC at Skillplace in Port Talbot, having gained permission to take the necessary time off school. "We could not make any allowance for his age nor could the examiners," says Brian Evans of Skillplace. "David has a natural grasp of the subject although he is still too young to take advantage of his qualification."
David, obviously a glutton for punishment, is returning to Skil!place in June to take his international CPC, and is surely the youngest CPC-holder in the UK ... unless you know better?
