Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• The HIAB Hydrauto automatic handling system. which has been described in CM (September 28) was demonstrated by the sole UK agent, George Cohen Machinery Ltd, last week.

The Hydrauto system operates in a vehicle on the carousel principle, moving wheeled pallets round the vehicle body until the required pallet is positioned on the tail-lift mounted at the rear of the body. Advantages claimed for the system are that the vehicle does not have to be loaded in "drop" order, only one man is required to operate the equipment from a position at the rear of the vehicle, and the load can be evenly distributed throughout the body thus avoiding uneven load conditions.

Pallets are positively locked in position so that there is no strain on the vehicle sides. The central conveyor assembly is secured to the vehicle floor by four mounting brackets. One small hole is required for hydraulic and electric lines to the power pack which can be fitted at any convenient point on the chassis.
