Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Allen Munro Transport, one of the hauliers targeted in an Observer campaign on drivers hours (CM 26 Oct-1 Nov), is demanding that the newspaper returns tachograph charts and a transcript of a taped meeting with Munro drivers.

Munro accuses the Observer of selectively quoting from a meeting secretly taped on 20 September.

It rejects the suggestion that drivers called the meeting, saying it was called by Munro director John Gillam to sort out problems at the depot.

'Our clients are of the view that the discussion over drivers' hours may well have been contrived in order to provide a recording to the press," says the company's solicitors.

The Observer has not responded to the firm's request for the tapes.
