George Meller began his company in 1960 selling pumping equipment to the UK pen-chemical industry and in 1978 sold out to Swedish group Axel Johnson, which needed a European springboard. Last year the group was re-branded Pod low while the Yorkshire element became
Meller FlowTrans.
Now best known for liquid, chemical and powder tanker discharge equipment, Meller also produces other specialist gear, such as the Diptronic fuel measuring and load integrity system, road barrier repair rigs, tipper hydraulics and hydraulic generator/power packs.
For the tanker sector, Meller systems use high quality proprietary items from around the world such as Blackmer compressors and Hydrives, and Johnson stainless steel pumps for edible goods.
For the petroleum industry Meller also builds the Accutech II metering package for bottom loaders with bulk, hose reel, or a mix of delivery formats; all carry Weights and Measures approval. The system uses Swedish valves and air checks.
Meller also supplies the Australian Liquip Diptronic fuel measurers and registers and it also offers a range of gas pump and meter packages.
Two Diptronic systems are in service with Stiller Transport on a Petroplus contract; another is destined for Total and unusually a completed kit has been sent to Eddie Stobart's tanker building workshop.
