SPECIAL provision of routes across the centre of Cambridge reserved only for buses to achieve maximum accessibility to the central area by public transport is envisaged in draft proposals for a town centre map.
The basic policies of the Cambridgeshire and Isle of Ely County Council in drawing up the map included provision for all through
traffic and cross-town traffic to be divertei round the central and university areas on cordon of primary traffic routes.
Within this cordon, traffic control woul4 be such that the area could be served ade quately by the use of certain streets a district and local distributors, withou any through movement of servicing or pri vate vehicles across the central core.
