PRACTICALLY all routes operated in the Wakefield area by the West Riding Automobile Co. Ltd. are now affected by frequency cuts which began on Monday. Continuing staff shortages have led to this situation and a company spokesman has stated that passengers will now benefit from greater reliability of services.
Mainly affected by the new cuts are offpeak services between 9 a.m. and 3.30 p.m. and after 6.30 p.m., on Mondays to Fridays. For example the Wakefield-Morley service has been reduced from a 30-minute to a 60-minute frequency during these hours. However, the hourly frequency on the new 73 service between Wakefield and Drighlington via Morley has been continued.
