SIMBA Security Systems claim they can tailor-make a system to suit individual needs and offer a choice of three ways of securing vehicles.
1. Immobilisation: by means of a steering lock which bolts the steering column (only vehicles under 30cwt are fitted with these as standard); By a fuel lock, which cuts off the actual fuel supply; Simba Diesel Fuel is a specially .designed lock to immobilise any diesel engine without any of the problems of air locks or damage to the pump that can be experienced with inferior equipment.
2. Audible alarm protection: giving warning of any attempt to make entry to the vehicle. Available in two types of operation, according to risk; Manual, requiring the driver to set the alarm when leaving the vehicle; Automatic being automatically set and avoiding driver error in forgetting to switch on the alarm.
Both manual and automatic alarms can be divided into two categories: —open circuit wiring—based on return to earth; —closed circuit loop wiring—a continuous circuit which offers the added protection that should wiring be cut or shorted out it would sound the alarm.
3. Physical protection: to prevent initial entry by fitting; mortice security deadlocks—a physically operated lock, electrically operated locks; bars, padlocks, grilles.
Additionally to both systems may be added Simba's development in alarm protection based on sound frequencies, vibrating through the body shell and windows of the vehicle. Such vibrations are picked up by sensors set to alarm.
