INTERNATIONAL pressure is being put on Italian authorities to try to reduce the disruption caused by Customs strikes on borders.
The International Road Transport Union (IRU) is concerned about the heavy losses being borne by hauliers whose vehicles re immobilised while strikes t ke place over such persistent complaints as staffing levels and overtime rates, and says that last year this amounted to 31,000 vehicle hours.
It wants the EEC to take action to resolve the problem.
