ANOTHER Nalgo resolution expresses dismay at the possibility of private financing of road construction. "This," it says, "will only result in roads built for profit, not need ..." But how can those without experience of productive work be expected to know that the road to Carey Street was paved by people who made things that were not needed?
Whether private finance for roads has any merit I do not know, but I am not so stupid as to close my mind entirely to its possibilities. The Nalgo resolution refuses co-operation even in feasibility studies. It must have been inspired by William Blake, the 18th century poet and artist, who said: "I will not reason and compare."
