JOHN WELLS, national secretary of the Commercial Moto, Lorry Driver of the Year Competition, found himself with a sleuthing job when he was col. lating the national stewards' reports on regional contests contending for the coveted SanGunnell award. This is pre• sented to the centre that put ur the best performance of thE year, taking into account thE suitability of the site, crowc control, public catering, infor mation and entertainments, prize-giving, special attractions and the general conduct of thE whole event.
Unfortunately, nine of the 3E stewards' reports omitted thE names of the centres. John war reduced to comparing sampler of stewards' handwriting and where there was none, tc searching for other clues tha. would enable all the centres tc be correctly identified.
