• While an industrial tribunal in Manchester on Tuesday considered a "test case" for the future of Britain's container traffic, the port's 1,500 dockers called a token strike. The men, who contend that work at container depots should be done by dockers, marched to the city centre where the tribunal was beginning a hearing involving the National Dock Labour Board and Containerbase (Manchester).
