• Penalties amounting to £707 were imposed on two partners in a haulage firm who faced 50 summonses at Leyland magistrates' court, Lanes, on Wednesday. They were Frank Schofield Wilkinson and Eric Wilkinson, trading as F. Wilkinson and Son, of Leyland. The firm faced 13 charges of failing to comply with the conditions of a C licence, three of using a goods vehicle without a test certificate and three for using a vehicle without a plating certificate. Mr. Eric Wilkinson was charged with five offences in failing to produce records. Mr. Frank Wilkinson had 13 charges of using uninsured vehicles and Mr. Eric Wilkinson also faced 13 charges in connection with using uninsured vehicles. Eric Wilkinson had pleaded guilty to the unauthorized use of C-licence vehicles but pleas of not guilty were entered on the rest of the charges.
