• Fleet operators are predicting increased turnover, expansion into new markets, bigger fleet sizes and healthy levels of vehicle replacements over the next year. These are the findings of the third annual Ryder Truck Pulse survey.
Of the 3,000-plus operators questioned, 53% said they were expanding into new markets, with the manufacturing sector (65%) and distribution (64%),
being particularly builish. Construction was the only sector not contemplating any expansion.
The report highlighted the four main issues facing the transport industry this year as running costs, the infrastructure, road safety and poor public image.
Less than 10% of respondents see environmental issues as their top priority for 1997.
