Peter Clark, a heavy tractor driver, came to the company from Sunters, and remembers Tom Llewellyn fondly. “He was a good bloke, a good leader, and he had the knack for getting people to do what he wanted. He wasn’t always popular – a lot of the guys lower down the ranks despised him, and would run away from him when they saw him coming, but Tom just laughed. They’d still do what he wanted, though. I used to give him a lift home, and he had me teach his son how to strap loads down on the vintage tractors they kept as a hobby.” Andrew Hunt joined the company in 1989, also as a trainee manager, and later became traffic manager. “We were all part of this one big family. It was an incredible atmosphere to work in.”
