-' marketing men of the year ". Mr. Prichard, 48. wins one of two equal top awards made by the Institute of Marketing------theother going to Lord Robens, chairman of the National Coal Board. They receive their awards as " the men who have made the most notable achievement during the year in ensuring and expanding markets for British industry " and will be presented with special medals.' at the institute's annual dinner in London on November 4.

The adjudicators decided to make two awards this year, because they could not separate the claims of Perkins and the Coal Board, " each of which was outstanding in its field ", Mr. Prichard, who has been managing director of Perkins since 1959, was officially notified of his award last week in Los Angeles, where he was addressing a major group at the convention of American trucking associations. On retiring from the position of managing director of S.P. Motors Ltd., Cirimsby, Mr. Stuart Plastow was given a handsome silver salver from the other directors and staff. The firm, which is part of the motor division of Ross Group Ltd, was created when Mr. Plastow joined in 1945 and was the start of Ross developing in the motor trade.

Mr. T. C. Orme has been appointed director of engineering of Arlington Motor Co. Ltd. and will continue to act as consultant engineer to the Arlington Group of Companies. Other Arlington appointments are Mr. R. L. Foster as parts and service director of Arlington Motor Company, Mr. T. E. Rhodes as managing director of Arlington Bodybuilders Ltd. and Mr. R. W. 111Hinton as company secretary for the Arlington Group.
