* Greek hauliers have won their battle against the government over proposed changes to HGV licensing, and have called off a series of strikes. The Greek transport ministry now says there will be no changes to licensing procedures.
* Plans have been put forward for a f 141bn runnel to link Britain and the Irish Republic. Consultancy group Symonds, which has devised the scheme, says the tunnel would slash journey times from London to Dublin to around three hours.
