• A symposium is being sponsored by the Association of Optical Practitioners to discuss road safety. Besides discussing natural hazards affecting drivers' visibility, such as fog, rain and night driving the design and lay-out of vehicles and instruments and motoring accessories will also be considered. Among the speakers will be Mr W. W. Bischoff, chief engineer of Vehicle Instruments Division Smiths Ltd, Mr D. J. Jeffrey, of the Transport and Road Research Laboratory, and Dr Keith E. Jolles, consultant in motoring medicine.
