• Police are chasing a number of new leads in the hunt for a gang of thieves which stole a trailer containing £70,000 worth of After Eight Mints from Nestle Foods in North Lincolnshire (CM 24-31April).
Six men broke into the security hut at Nestle's Scunthorpe depot, and bundled the guard into the back of a silver Mondeo, releasing him two hours later on the M62 near Saddleworth.
They then used one of four tractors stolen from the Associated British Ports (ABP) at Immingham to steal the trailer—painted in a Kit Kat livery—containing the chocolates. They made several other attempts to steal more trailers.
Following an appeal on the BBC's Crime watch programme, a Humberside Police spokeswoman says they have been inundated with calls: "We are following up a number of new leads from people who have been offered After Eights in Wales and the Manchester and Liverpool areas. Anyone with information should contact us."
