• Warninglid-based Southern Counties Fuels runs 58 tankers from seven sites, ranging from a 7.5-tonner for residential heating oil deliveries, to 44-tonne antics on national delivery schedules.
The bulk of the fleet is made up of 18-tonne rigids plus some 11-tonners, eight' and a number of urban artics.
Around two-thirds of the fleet are Daft and Leyland Dafs but there are also ERFs, Scanias and Volvos on the fleet, plus a well-preserved 1948 Bedford, Southern Counties turned to Channel Commercials when Daf brought Out the new LF range, says transport director Clive Tester. "Not having a proper time-delay to serve and protect the vehicle's electronic management system caused real problems, and we were not very happy with our four new Daf
tankers."
"But to Channel's credit, they stuck with it and sorted it all out. In our t they're a really dedicated firm," adds Clive. 'They don't walk away from t lems, and nothing is too much trouble."
