• Even though an applicant had advertised for household removal work which was outside his B licence conditions, he was only able to produce four letters from customers requiring transport, said Mr. M. Gosnay, Yorkshire deputy Licensing Authority, refusing an application in Leeds last week.
There were five objectors to the application by E. S. Drake and Co. Ltd., Mold Green, to extend its B licence conditions to include household removals within 60 miles. Its present licence is to carry its own and its associated company's new and secondhand furniture within 25 miles.
Mr. R. G. Drake, company secretary, said it had a reconditioned vehicle of 750 cu. ft. capacity which was only occupied one day a week. It had advertised for small removals work but had stopped as soon as it was told this was wrong. Last June, he had tried to hire a van from the objectors for a day's work but could get nothing for 10 days.
