/ The entire day shift at TNT's Express Parcel's distribution centre at Atherstone is to be made redundant by the end of the year. Thirty seven people will lose their jobs when the day shift closes, says TNT's head of human resources George Lawson. But he denies the move is because of a loss of business.
"Our business has changed and, consequently, the traffic profile has changed" says Lawson. Express parcels managing director Tom Bell says the 168 jobs on the night shift will not be affected by the redundancies: "Our overnight business has grown substantially but there is no growth in the three-day business so we are restructuring our operation to reflect this."
The company will meet the TGWU to discuss terms.
