• A software firm claims that hauliers of all sizes could save money as well as time by using a document handling system. HaulTech Computer Systems of Stoke-on-Trent offers a system called Archivist which indexes scanned documents and allows them to be shared among employees. Even customers can gain access to selected documents such as delivery notes, orders and invoices over the Internet, making proof of delivery easier, and saving space and time used in filing.
Archivist software costs from 22,000: the recommended document scanner adds an extra 2300-plus. HaulTech specialises in software for transport fleets, and sales manager Clare Armstrong reckons that the system is suitable for any business which handles at least 50-100 documents a day.
