Engine: 2.5-lit diesel, 141hp/340Nm Transmission: 4x4, 5spd man GVW: 2,850-2,890kg Cab: Single, extended, double MODELS TESTED/PUBLISHED:
4 WORK DOUBLE CAB 20 April 2006 Firmly established as the market leader thanks in no small part to dramatic styling packages that appeal to drivers who like their work machines to have a touch of style: the latest version of the L200 is afar cry from the donkey it replaces.
Mitsubishi knows a thing or two about 4WD technology and this is admirably displayed in its pickup, which continues to perform off-road due in part to its torquey common-rail engine which, though lacking refinement, delivers when required.
It also delivers on-road, feeling composed and taut; allowing you to push on without worrying about what the rear of the vehicle is going to do.
Build quality has also been raised by a notch and this is reflected in the standard of fixtures and fittings, though it doesn't manage to completely block out exterior noise at high speed, making th L200 feel somewhat less refined than it should.
