Engine: 3,9-ht, 143hp/41 2 Nm Transmission: 6spd man Chassis: 4x2 GVW: 7,500kg Wheelbase: 2,750-4,470mm MODEL TESTED/PUBLISHED: 7C14 7 September 2006 For same, the Far Eastern cabover-engine arrangement will always be at the cost of interior space, but the Canter has taken great strides in improving its occupant comfort with an enhanced drying position and seating. And it hasn't stopped there. With better soundproofing, a new engine and slicker gear change there's a userfriendliness to this Mitsubishi that was previously lacking.
A large part of this has to be attributable to Daimler's longterm investment, which has tightened all the bolts and smoothed off those rough edges. What's also remained is the level of manoeuvrability that a machine like this offers—ideal for urban work— along with the payload potential thanks to its lighter-than-average chassis.
However, to get the best out of the Canter's abilities it's best to stick to the smaller versions to get the balance right.
