LORRY DRIVERS once earned the title, Knights of the Road, as much for their readiness to help drivers in distress as by their courtesy at the wheel. With the general decline in social behaviour over the past 40 years their reputation has been tarnished but I hope they will heed the plea by Eric Charles, chief executive of RAC Motoring Services, to look out for the special "help" pennants that are being used by disabled motorists whose cars have broken down.
Even a simple failure can cause great distress to a handicapped driver.
