Per-Tee's full-flow PowerTrap filter. Designed for vehicles grossing at up to 28 tonnes, it manipulates the exhaust gas stream and herds the particulates into a chamber where they are burned off periodically by an electric heating element.
"PowerTrap will not block and doesn't need maintenance," explains Per-Tec founder Peter Kukla. These are not the only advantages he claims.
A specially designed flexible fibre is used internally rather than a ceramic wall-flow filter. "It's light, won't crack, and helps reduce engine noise," he states.
The presence of a heating element means that PowerTrap does not depend on the exhaust temperature to function. Most full-flow filters do, but the companies that make them argue this rarely results in a failure to perform.
