BRITISH RAIL chairman Bob Reid has opened a new rail terminal and vehicle distribution depot in Bathgate, West Lothian. The terminal Is for MAT Transauto for the delivery of all Austin Rover's vehicles to its Scottish distributors and dealers.
A fleet of 10 Hoynor Mark VII articulated trailers powered by Leyland Cruisers will operate the contract from the new eight-acre site which has a storage capacity for over 1,000 cars, marshalling vehicles, parking and loading road transporters and areas for unloading trains.
Vehicles are transported daily to Bathgate by MAT Transauto's rail wagons directly from Austin Rover.
