FULL PRODUCTION of the electric Sherpa van began this week at the Freight Rover Common Lane plant, with an initial run of over 100 units.

Built on the same line as conventional models, the electric van is based on a Sherpa 200 van body equipped with a 40kW (54 bhp) CAV traction motor driving a modified leaf-sprunc Range Rover rear axle rotated through 180 degrees.

To aid production of the one ton payload vehicle, all electrica control gear is mounted on complete sub-assembly, whic is fitted in the front engine corn partment. Batteries for the 3.5 ton ne-gvw van are mounted be low the body, allowing full us of the load space.
