HYUNDAI has increased the load carrying capacity on the latest version of its Pony pickup.

Called the Pony II, the new vehicle uses the same body styling as the current Pony hatchback car and has a revised payload of 470kg (9.25 cwt) with driver on board, compared to 380 kg (7.2 cwt) on the previous medel.

The everall gvw has also be: increased to 1.43 tonnes with kerb weight rising to 0.89 to The Pony II is 40mm (1.51n) longer; front track has been widened by 20mm (0.7in) and rear track by 40mm (1.5in) but it retains the original wheelbase of 2.34m (7.6ft).

The cab interior has been updated in line with the car range, although heavy duty rubber mats are retained in the pick-up.

Since its introduction into the UK 18 months ago, Koreanbased Hyundai has sold over 3,000 pick-ups. Cost of the Hyundai Pony II is £3,488.85 including vat.
