How much for Euro-3? We don’t have that kind of money
I HAVE been looking to purchase another truck and saw a couple of vehicles that were of interest in the Midlands. I rang the dealers and was given the usual gumph of how clean and presentable they were, and what the extras (some of which were standard it) were on the said vehicles, and lastly came the price. Although I found it dificult to stile my laughter, I did manage.
The asking price from these Birmingham-based dealers, on both occasions, were 30% above the top book price, and this was for Euro-3 (pictured) trucks! Anyone who has been looking for trucks lately will know that dealers are loading the prices for Euro-4 or -5 trucks pending the LEZ regulation changes, but 30% more than top book price for Euro-3 trucks is astronomical. But I guess someone must be silly enough to part with their money.
I would say to anyone who wants to buy a truck – don’t. Wait another ive or six months if you can, as prices will go down. Let dealers like this keep their stock and pick them up a few months down the line when they simply have to move stock to survive. The haulage sector is not lucrative and is made worse by dealers who have no shame. George Petrie Dover
