HAVING refused a tender of £525 by Wright and Co. (King's Cross), Ltd., London, N.1, for contract-hire unit 2312 in List 5, the British Transport Commission have changed their minds and offered to accept the bid. Since the original offer was made, however, three months' profit on the contract has been lost.
The Commission told Wright and Co. that "circumstances have arisen which make it possible to reconsider tenders received for the unit."
The customer in the case was a London printing house, and the unit was awarded to a tenderer in Kent whom the printer would not accept. That is why the unit is in the market again.
A subsidiary company of the printing concern hired a vehicle put up for sale in another unit which was knocked down to Wright and Co., but the joint customers refused to have their transport divided between two operators.
