THEMinister of Labour has been sent a plea by Bangor Borough Council to the effect that a reduction in the fuel tax was vital to the economy of Northern Ireland and would relieve unemployment. Fuel tax in Ulster realizes about £3m. a year.
The council are to oppose the application by the Ulster Transport Authority to the Transport Tribunal to approve a schedule of maximum charges. It is feared that if fares rise, persons in Bangor will move to Belfast.
