• Demand for contract distribution will double in the next five years, but the real boom will be for shared distribution packages rather thar full-scale dedicated contracts, says a new report.
The dedicated distribution market, though growing, is peaking, according to the survey of 570 customers and potential customers of contract distribution. More mediumsized firms, in particular, are staying with shared distribution services, and feel less inclined to put all their distribution eggs in one basket.
The report, The UK Market for Contract Distribution, by Corporate Development Consultants, also suggests that distributors should form a professional association to "build a higher profile of themselves and their industry."
"There is a need to educate British industry to the full benefits of contract distribution," says CDC director John Lawrence.
The report also says that spending on contract distribution services will grow by between 5% and 10% per year. The 350-page study, which costs 26,000, is available from Corporate Development Consultants in London. Telephone: 01-947 7411.
