• Three hundred bus drivers at south London's Merton bus station caused major confusion for commuters early on Friday morning when union officials refused to let buses out of the station following reports that one vehicle's windscreen wipers were defective.
The union representatives called for a safety check of all the station's vehicles and normal services were disrupted on nine routes.
Services were back to normal by mid-morning.
