of Commercial Motor since about 1926 and have never failed to be impressed by the variety, scope and quality of the articles but, after reading the 1988 parcels survey, I feel a fresh approach is needed.
So, how about a real test with the things that delivery firms have to deal with all too often — a very fragile article, badly packed and poorly addressed and having a destination which could be one of several similarly-named towns or villages all over the UK.
I suggest less attention be paid to collection times — it's the delivery that is important, followed by the cost, for your 1988 survey made plain that if all deliveries were made on a value-for-money basis and not on 'style', the effect could even reflect on inflation.
In fact, if the delivery firms' customers all read your 1988 parcels survey, half the firms involved would go out of business immediately.
