• This heavy-duty recovery vehicle, built on an adapted Mercedes-Benz 1635 Powerliner chassis, has gone into service with Southampton-based Oakmount Recovery.
Mercedes claims it is the first wrecker in Britain with an electro-pnuematic gearshift linked to a mechanical transmission.
The wheelbase has been extended to 5.38m to give sufficient space behind the sleeper cab for a new Interstater MK 3 recovery unit.
