Mr. Charles Baroth, transport manager at Salford, Lanes, since 1946, is to retire. Mr. Baroth joined W. T. Underwood Ltd., the precedessor of East Midland Motor Services Ltd. in 1920 as foreman at the CloWne, Derbyshire, depot and in 1925 he was promoted to manager at Boston. He moved to Taunton in 1927 as local superintendent with the National Omnibus and Transport Co. Ltd. After a year there he joined Midland Red as Birmingham divisional superintendent. Mr. Baroth's next move was in 1944 when' he joined the municipal industry as general manager at Newport.
Mr. P. Scully, at present assistant traffic manager of Southdown Motor Services Ltd., has been appointed traffic manager of North Western Road Car Co. Ltd. in succession to Mr. D. L. Fytehe, who, as previously announced, has been appointed traffic manager of Midland Red. On completion of a three-year training course with Midland Red, Mr. Scully joined Western Omnibus Co. Ltd. as assistant traffic manager. He was manager of Stratford-upon-Avon Blue Motors Ltd. from 1958 until 1963.
Mr. Roy Smith has been appointed principal executive assistant, traffic office, department of the operating manager (central buses) of London Transport.
Rear-Admiral I. G. Aylen has been appointed to the newly established post of deputy secretary of The Institution of Mechanical Engineers. He became an assistant secretary of the Institution in January this year.
Mr. 0. R. Hemstridge, formerly industrial lubrication sales representative of Tecalemit (Engineering) Ltd., has been promoted to field sales manager, industrial lubrication department.
At the annual general meeting last week of the Devon and Cornwall centre of the Institute of Traffic Administration, Mr. J. D. Breeze was elected chairman,. with Mr. F. Goldsworthy as vicechairman.

The Perkins Group has announced three senior manufacturing executive appointments. Mr. J. Hooper, formerly general jmanufacturing manager of the group's U.K. operating unit, is appointed staff director, manufacturing. Mr. B. P. Dyer relinquishes his appointment as facilities manager to become general manufacturing manaeer. U.K. operating unit. Taking over as facilities manager (acting) for the U.K. operating unit is Mr, F. G. Brown, formerly chief planning engineer.
Mr. P. T. Williams has been appointed manager of the motor vehicle development division of Mercantile Credit Co. Ltd.
Mr. J. K. Isaacs, formerly assistant traffic manager of Jamaica Omnibus Services Ltd., has been appointed assistant traffic manager of Midland Red, with effect from December 1. After completion of his three-year B.E.T. training course with Ribble Motor Services Ltd., Mr. Isaacs served with Aldershot and District Traction Co. Ltd. and joined Jamaica Omnibus Services in 1959.
Mr. Reg Winterson has been appointed director of sales for Tuckers' Radiator Services Group, of Bristol.
Mr. R. H. Stainton has joined AircraftMarine Products (GB.) Ltd. as field sales manager of the M. and R. division.
