THE French Government is soon to adopt a new procedure governing the entry into France of tourist coaches from this country.
It is proposed to allow public service vehicles to enter French territory subject only to the holding of a waybill which will be checked on entry and departure.
The new procedure, when adopted, will obviate the use of international certificates, international permits and circulation permits, but the forms used will require to be identical for all traffic originating from the sante country.
It is thought that the new system may be the result of an attempt to counter illegal traffic in petrol into France as well as a means for obtaining tax on fuel consumed there. Under the new scheme, the fuel will be checked each time the vehicle crosses or recrosses the frontier
The Ministry of Transport is seeking the views of operators on the new procedure.
