• A subcontractor who was working for GB Express SA when it went to the wall is still being pursued by the receiver for an unpaid diesel bill, despite being owed more than £48,000 by the former international haulier. Martin Heath from Lichfield-based M-TEC refused to pay the bill in December, almost a year after GB Express went into receivership.
He says he has given up hope of seeing his money which almost cost him his business, and knows of several others who have suffered severe losses. "It's disgusting that the British Government can allow this to happen," Heath adds.
"There should be something to protect the small haulier, I've only just started to get the business into a positive position again," he says.
M-TEC used to work for GB Express SA, which appointed a receiver in Bordeaux.
Commercial Motor has also heard from another subcontractor who tried for months to get information about payment but ultimately failed, with the loss of thousands of pounds.
