A PLEA for workers' organizations to consider using fully the facilities offered by British Railways was made at a recent meeting of Sheffield Trades and Labour Council. The Sheffield branch -of the Transport Salaried Staffs' Association appealed for fuller support by Sheffield workers for nationalized transport services, making referenceto the "rather rocky state" of British Railways.
The plea for railway support met with opposition, however, and members said that they did not see any reason why the trade-union movement in Sheffield should support the nationalized railways, rather than any other form of transport.
The council unanimously passed a resolution urging workers to support the British Transport Commission.
