NEW regulations which alter the procedure for the appointment of Traffic Commissioners and Deputy Traffic Commissioners have been introduced by the Minister of Transport.
In future, local authority nominations to the panels from which Traffic Commissioners (other than Chairmen) and Deputies are appointed must be received by the Ministry on or before August L Instead of November 15 as hitherto.
The change does not affect the Metropolitan Traffic Area, where the Commissioner sits alone,. nor the position of the Chairman sitting as Licensing Authority . to deal with goods vehicles.
The new regulations are The Traffic Commissioners (Nomioations to Panels) Regulations 1962 (SI 1962/795), price 3d. from H.M. Stationery Office. or from any bookseller.
