• A director of a haulage company which went bust last February is now listed as the director of another haulage company based at the same premises, just weeks after denying any link between the two.
Janice Malcolm, a director of Taphaul, which went into compulsory liquidation with the loss of about 20 jobs, now appears as the director for Malcolm Transport Fife, based in Church Street, Cowdenbeath.
The company had recently advertised in the Dundee Courier as applying for an Operator's licence for 12 goods vehicles and 24 trailers. It is not known what work it is doing, although Taphaul is known to have been involved in supermarket distribution work. Last month, when CM spoke to Janice Malcolm, she refused to comment on the liquidation of Taphaul and denied being behind Malcolm Transport. The phone, however, had been answered "Malcolm Transport", and the number was the same as Taphaul's When CM phoned again last Friday, Janice Malcolm's husband Thomas told us he knew nothing of his wife's business affairs and that she would be back in a couple of days. He said he had nothing to do with Malcolm Transport and just happened to be in the office.
A further call on Monday found Thomas Malcolm again in the office—this time claiming that Janice Malcolm no longer worked there. He then put the phone down.
