rEBRUARY I next will be the appointed day under the Transport Act. After that date it will be illegal to carry for hire or reward beyond radius of 25 miles of a vehicle's operating centre, unless the goods carried are excluded traffic, or a permit has been issued by the Road Haulage Executive, or a notice of acquisition has-been 'served on the undertaking and has not been withdrawn.
. It is expected that the Executive will .give its decision on applications for original 'permits during December, January and February.
An -operator who has made valid application can continue tci Work until one month after it has been dealt with by the Executive and the decision notified to the applicant, or •.until March 1 next, whichever is the later.
Applications for ordinary permits and job permits must be made in duplicate in forms PRI and PR4, respectively, which, together with explanatory leaflets, will be obtainable from the . Executive's •offices after November 21.
All notices of compulsory acquisition will have been served by December 31. If by January I no notice has been received by a person who contends that his busineas should be 'taken over, he may give nOtice in writing during January, requiring the Executive tO serve a notice of acquisition. The operator must use form A,R.9 for this purpose.
