SAYING that the younger generation 1,-,should prepare :themselves for the increasing number of vacancies now arising within the company, Sir Henry Spurrier, managing director of Leyland Motors, Ltd., told the annual general meeting of Leyland Motors' Engineering Society that today there were five jobs for every one which existed a few years ago.
Younger people should also help older members who were now working to establish a safe position for the future in the overseas market, he added.
Sir Henry, who was re-elected president of the Society, presented the first annual Spurrier prize, which he had offered for the most outstanding member of the year, to Mr. John M. Simpson, aged 22, a draughtsman who joined the company as a trade
apprentice.
