Help! What can a fussy eater who's set in his ways find to eat at a German truckstop?
My firm has landed a new contract which will see me taking various loads down to Munich in Bavaria, Germany.
All my trucking career has been spent in the UK and I'm rather set in my ways with my daily fry-up (or sandwiches if the wife's up early enough) and am a bit worried about the truckstop food over there.
As a bit of a fussy eater will I be OK over there?
In a word, yes. Of course there will be some very dodgy looking sausages lying around consisting of who knows what but here are a few items you will definitely enjoy.
Chicken and chips: look for 'Halbes Haehnchen mit Pommes'. escalope and chips (Schnitzel mit Pommes); sausage in a bread roll (Bratwurst im Broetchen... but don't be too shocked by the discovery that German sausages actually contain meat).
There are, of course, many more dishes which taste very good, but as a fussy eater these are probably your best option.
You never know, after a few runs you might become a Blutwurst connoisseur it translates to blood sausage... but that should hold no fears for a black pudding eater!
