LINCOLN City Transport's bus services did rather better last year than had been expected.
In its annual report for the year to March 31 this year, LCT said that its operating deficit was £138,000 less than expected. Bus patronage fell by 642,000 journeys (10 per cent) but receipts rose by 13 per cent, helped by a fare increase. At the same time, operating costs were cut by one per cent; during the year the fleet was reduced from 48 to 41 and 28,000 fewer miles were operated, although the licensed route mileage remained at 56 miles.
