NOSTALGIA receives a jolt at the annual South Yorkshire Transport Rally at Norfolk Park, Sheffield, where modern commercial vehicles (1968 onwards) can be compared with historic vehicles, and one is vividly reminded of the hardships endured with the glamorous oldies. Apart from the usual classes there are categories for those ostentatious "Customised" lorries and vans which I sometimes fear (wrongly, I hope) are held together by psychedelic paint and chromium plating.
This year's event is on September 26 and the organisers are appealing for competent judges as well as for entrants. Ian Suttle, South Yorkshire Transport Society (Rally), 59 Sally Road, Hackenthorpe, Sheffield 512 4LH, will welcome them.
