• Another drop in the contribution of truck rentals to the turnover at Dawsongroup was revealed in company results for the first half of 1997. However. a company spokesman says no more fleet cuts are planned. The division's contribution fell to 44% from 52% in 1996.
Michael Williams, group chief executive officer, says he is now "happy with the fleet's size", which has been reduced by one quarter since 1994. He is optimistic that poor rental rates, which forced the reductions, are about to recover.
The move away from trucks, which began in 1990, saw the acquisition of cold storage company PCS for .£9.5m in June of this year.
