SIX B licence applications were granted to Hall and Ham River Ltd. by Metropolitan deputy LA, Mr. C. J. Macdonald, when he held his final public inquiry last Friday.
Mr. S. Harper, Hall and Ham River transport officer, explained that the Eastern division of his company operated vehicles on six B licences. It was now intended to redistribute the fleet so that each of the company's 27 workshops would be responsible for the maintenance of a more equal proportion of the 2,000 vehicles.
The court was crowded with spectators to bid farewell to Mr. Macdonald.
Miss E. Havers, speaking for the barristers, said that she looked upon Mr. Macdonald as the small man's friend. Mr. R. Williams conveyed the good wishes of the solicitors.
Mr. Macdonald, 76, has been deputy LA in the Metropolitan Traffic Area for 16 years. He is retiring to Bournemouth.
